Research Experience

Hidden Brain State Dynamics is Related to Sleep Profile

• Perform GICA and hidden Markov modelling on fMRI data to infer brain state dynamics.

• Implement HMM in MATLAB (HMM-MAR) on high performance computing cluster (BlueBear)

• Conduct statistical analysis including classification (KNN, RF), ANOVA, and regression in Python.

• Lead a four people group and work on the open-source health dataset MIMIC.

• Manage and pre-process data using GoogleBigQuery and Google Colab.

Quantitative comparison of convolutional neural networks and neural activity         

• Implement representational similarity analysis to compare the similarity of CNNs with the visual cortex.

• Fine-tune AlexNet with image and label data, perform principal component analysis on BOLD signals and calculate representation dissimilarity matrices separately for quantitative comparison.

• Conduct data analysis using Python libraries Pytorch, Sckilearn, etc and runs on Google Colab.

Multidimensional assessment of pain after cervical spinal cord hyperextension injury     01/2021 - 05/2021

• Analyse behaviour data including various pain scales, emotion scales, cognitive scales and MRI images

• Performed VBM, TBSS and seed-based functional connectivity analysis using FSL.

• Implemented Statistical analysis and visualization using Python (SciPy, pingouin), R on Jupyter.

Center for Human Brain Health, University of Birmingham                                                                                

• Conducting MRI image analysis using deep learning-based tools such as U-Net, and AntsPyNet on Colab.

• Perform statistical analysis, and structural equation modelling using Python.

Clinical Rotations                                                                                

• Four grade 3A hospitals in China: China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wangjing Hospital, Dongzhimen Hospital.

• Eleven departments: Internal medicine department (Neurology, Geriatric, Cardiology, etc.), surgery department (cerebral surgery, obstetrics, etc), radiology department, and acupuncture department.

• Help doctors in each department to complete the tasks of the operating room, ward, and outpatient.

• Help with the clinical research in the neurology department including blind method, data collection etc.
